Buenos Aires, Argentina - With the motto “Life and Peace in 'Your Home,'” UPF-Argentina celebrated UN World Water Day on March 22, considering the importance of expanding awareness of the care for life in all its dimensions on the planet and adding its commitment to a healthy and sustainable environment. As stated in the UN resolution establishing World Water Day (Resolution 47/193) it "is a unique opportunity" to "develop global awareness about the problems arising in this area and applicable solutions." Furthermore, the period 2005-2015 was declared International Decade for Action "Water, the Source of Life" (Resolution 58/217).
"Water" is related with "life" and has various connotations: cultural, scientific, economic, and spiritual. This vital element covers three quarters of the earth's surface, which is also the proportion of fluid that constitutes the human body. "Your house" not only refers to the name given to the planet by some environmental groups but also to the character of sacred temple that certain spiritual traditions give to each person. "Your," in this case, refers to the responsible care that everyone should have in their own house, home, and resources. "Peace" is our deepest yearning, a universal desire and an imperative of our time. It will only be possible with an active collective commitment, with understanding and cooperation with oneself, with others, with the planet, being conscious that we are One.

"Nowadays there are 7,000 million people to feed on the planet and it is expected another 2,000 million for 2050. Statistics show that all people drink from two to four liters of water daily, but most of the water we 'drink' is incorporated with the food we consume: to produce a kilogram of beef, for instance, we consume 15,000 liters of water and a kilogram of wheat 'drinks' 1,500 liters."
"In the next decades, to feed a growing world population and to guarantee security for food and nutrition for everybody, we will need to increase the food production. That means that our most important finite resource, water, should be used on a sustainable basis."
Message from Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon

"Watch your thoughts, they will become words; watch your words, they will become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become your destiny."

"Loving nature is loving God and humanity. When human life resonates with nature, the human character will flourish in perfection. The flowers of the true culture of the heart, the world of true art, will bloom. It will be the Garden of Eden, the original ideal where the human beings and all creation live in complete harmony and express their original nature".
