Richmond, British Columbia, Canada - The UPF of Western Canada put together a celebration of peace which simultaneously promoted the goals of UPF and helped the Richmond community celebrate the diverse multicultural nature of Canada in the Vancouver area. The program was led by Mr. Alan Wilding, director of UPF-Western Canada, and Mr. Paul Cheung, CEO of Lions Communications Inc. and organizer of the popular Richmond Summer Night market.
The Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, MP from Nepal and Secretary General of UPF-Nepal, gave a presentation a UPF luncheon in Mississauga, Ontario about UPF activities in Nepal, including a recent ascent of Mt. Everest by a UPF Ambassador for Peace.
Toronto, Canada - The ongoing civil strife in Sri Lanka has spilled over into the Sri Lankan community in Canada. In the Toronto area, UPF is reaching out to the Sinhalese and Tamil Sri Lankans of various faiths to narrow the communications gap and help establish common understandings among them, in the hopes that this can have a positive influence on developments in their home country.
Clearstone, Canada - It is customary for UPF Central District (Toronto) to arrange a family picnic for its members and guests at Clearstone Lodge; Roseneath R2, Ontario, at least once in a year. This time it was different because I have been waiting to attend the occasion with full UPF spirit and fervor. This auspicious occasion was arranged by the joint efforts of Dr. Chae Hee Lee, Chairman of UPF-Canada, and Dr. Hoossen Auckbaraullee, Chairman of the Central District. Of course those who attended made it splendid by their presence.
Ottawa, Canada - The Universal Peace Federation in cooperation with National Capital Peace Council hosted a conference on "Religions Cooperating for Peace" on May 7, 2009. The event had been organized to narrow the gap between different religions and regions which are still separated by barriers such as prejudice, discrimination, intolerance, injustice, and insularity when it comes to existing and letting others exist with dignity

Canada, Quebec - On March 21, 2009, 33 Quebec religious leaders gathered to get a deeper understanding of the new Ethics and Religious Culture program taught systematically since September 2008 in all primary and secondary schools in the province of Quebec.
UPF Montreal held its monthly Interfaith Breakfast on Wednesday March 18. This is the eighth year of regular monthly meetings of English and Bilingual (French and English) meetings.
As envisaged earlier by UPF-Canada's Central District, the much awaited Inter-Religious Family Festival was celebrated on March 15 with full fervor and zest, which has sown the seeds of unified action to establish peace within and around. People of different ethnic origins and religious groups gathered to share their common values to contribute towards peaceful co-existence and peace among them. The gathering looked like a unified family under one God. Catholics, Protestants, Assyrians, Muslims, Sikhs, and others could be seen intermingling and sharing their appreciation of each other.
Toronto, Canada - The Toronto chapter welcomed Saudi religious scholar, businessman, and writer Sheikh Ali Bin Sa'ad Ashshahrani to their office at Mavety, Toronto. Upon his arrival, Sheikh Ali was received by UPF Central District Chairman Dr. Hoossen Auckbaraullee and other high-ranking UPF officials.
Toronto, Canada - The Central District of the Universal Peace Federation in Canada arranged a special gathering on February 14 to plan an Inter-Religious Family Festival in Toronto as a way of promoting harmony among the diverse religious and cultural groups.
Ottawa, Canada - In his opening speech, Rev. Walter Fauntroy, a retired US Congressman, brought the audience to a standing ovation when he eloquently and effectively detailed his experience with the then-apartheid government in South Africa and his first-hand experiences in the South of the USA.

Ottawa, Canada - Canada’s Ambassadors for Peace drew upon their nation’s principal role in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and developing UN peacekeeping forces at the Canadian Leadership Conference October 2-5.
In the early part of the twenty-first century, the peoples of the world are experiencing an intolerable level of insecurity and violence on the parts of states and non-state actors. At the same time, there has been a re-energizing of the peace movement and citizen initiatives in seeking innovative, nonviolent and enduring resolution of conflict through peacebuilding activities of many kinds. One of those initiatives is a growing international movement for the creation of departments of peace in all nations. Canada, as a middle power with a long history of peacekeeping and negotiated outcomes to conflict, stands in a unique position to become the first country to proclaim a Department and Minister of Peace.
