Honiara, Solomon Islands - UPF-Solomon Islands sponsored an interfaith forum to commemorate the UN's World Interfaith Harmony Week on January 28. Three guest speakers were invited from different faiths to share a brief introduction to their faith and their thoughts about interfaith harmony.
Honiara, Solomon Islands - The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation organized a radio forum on September 19 on the theme of "Youth for Peace and Development" with the UPF Secretary General as one of the panelists.
Honiara, Solomon Islands - About 70 people participated in a Legacy of Peace ceremony honoring international and national people who inspire people to work for peace. As in other nations, the event followed the pattern established at the United Nations in New York.

Out of many nations Solomon Islands was chosen to be the host of the Global Peace Festival 2008 in Oceania. What a blessing! Despite heavy criticisms from various groups, thousands came and attended. This is such a miracle!
As a student at the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education, School of Education, I participated in the Global Peace Festival held November 28-29, 2008, and the preparatory events leading up to the event.
Honiara, Solomon Islands - “Under the motto of One Family under God, everyone can learn to live in harmony,” according to the chair of the Global Peace Festival-Solomon Islands, Hon. Augustine Taneko, a Member of Parliament. This message has been warmly received and is helping to unite the diverse peoples of the islands.
The Hon. Allan Kemakeza, Prime Minister, attended the inauguration of the Universal Peace Federation in the Solomon Islands. He graciously acknowledged Dr. Sun Myung Moon’s work for peace both internationally and locally.
Tenaru, Solomon Islands— The RYS Solomon Islands project was held at St. Joseph’s Secondary College in Tenaru, which is a prominent Catholic school in the area.
Tenaru, Solomon Islands—The RYS held its first project in the Solomon Islands from June 30 to July 6. The work was spread out over four worksites where participants were involved in construction, furniture assembly, painting and restoration.
