Day of Families Observed in Indonesia

Medan, Indonesia - The celebration of the International Day of Families held at the Islamic University of North Sumatra on May 15 was the first commemoration of a UN day organized by UPF on the island of Sumatra. Students and teachers alike appreciated Mr. David McLackland’s lively presentation on the theme “Preparing Youth for Marriage.”
New Chapter Opened in North Sumatra Trains Youth Leaders

Medan, Indonesia - In March, UPF established a new chapter in Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra Province. The newly established UPF center focuses on youth leadership training programs for students inculcating the values of ‘pure love’ and ‘living for the sake of others’ as well as marriage rededication programs for couples to enhance the quality of love they experience in their marriage.

Teachers Training on Character Building in Jakarta

Jakarta, Indonesia - After the recent celebration of the World Interfaith Harmony Week at Wijayakusuma School, the school authorities requested UPF to conduct a training program on character education for their teachers. On March 10, 40 teachers attended a UPF training.

Though schools used have to moral education classes in the past, these days such classes have generally been removed from the curriculum and teachers are struggling how to implement moral or character education in their classrooms.
