Gangtok, India - The Universal Peace Federation of Sikkim co-sponsored the Hills Men's Open Volleyball and Constituency Level Women Volleyball Tournaments October 15-24, 2011 at the Chuba School Playground, South Sikkim. G.M. Gurung, Chairman of UPF-Sikkim, addressed the opening ceremony for the 18 men's and 16 women's teams. Bratislava, Slovakia - An "Evening of Solidarity" on Oct. 18, 2011, at the Zichy Palace in Bratislava featured presentations about charitable projects to aid victims of the tsunami in Japan and a school in Kenya.
Yekaterinburg, Russia - The Yekaterinburg student who sent a hand-made gift for a Georgian student delivered during the Religious Youth Service Project there during the summer received a gift in return during a celebration of the International Day of Peace on Sept. 22, 2011.
Moscow, Russia - Youth Ambassadors for Peace helped staff the UN displays at a book fair in Moscow Sept. 7-12, 2011. The two stands were “United Nations in the Russian Federation” and “Human Rights.”
Sydney, Australia - As part of the Community Connections project, a community-capacity building workshop on September 10 featured guest presenter Jonathan Duffy, CEO of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency in Australia.
Geneva, Switzerland - Soprano soloist Seiko Lee gave a concert on August 31 to raise funds for humanitarian relief in Haiti at the Temple de la Servette in Geneva. Rev. William McComish, pastor of the church, introduced the event, and Dr. Alexandre, representing Haiti's Ambassador to the UN offices in Geneva, gave welcoming remarks.
Novosibirsk, Russia - The “Cherish Friendship, Create a Park of Peace” in Siberia, Aug. 15-21, 2011, grew out of the conviction that the future depends on friendship and understanding among people of different nations and religions.
Kochi, India - A Religious Youth Service project Aug. 9-15, 2011, included planting fruit trees and a vegetable garden at a school in Kochi, India, cleaning an athletic field, training in communication and peacebuilding skills, and visits to religious and cultural sites.
Petrozavodsk, Russia - During the third annual Hyperborean Youth Forum near Petrozavodsk Aug. 3-9, 2011, Youth Ambassadors for Peace organized a Play Football Make Peace tournament, a beach cleanup, and a “Mr. and Miss Hyperborea” program.
Colombo, Sri Lanka - Three students of the Amal International School Sri Lanka who are alumni of Religious Youth Service projects won a trip to San Francisco, California, in August 2011, where they will participate in ThinkQuest workshops.
