Day of Peace Observed at Educational Programs in Latvia

Riga, Latvia - UPF-Latvia observed the International Day of Peace with presentations on September 20 to school students at the private secondary school Klasika on the theme "Education for Peace." Jacques Marion, UPF-Eurasia Peace Initiative Coordinator spoke to 9th grade and 11th grade classes about UPF's peace initiatives and vision, relating the current Syrian conflict to the need for an interreligious council at the United Nations and emphasizing the importance of opening one’s mind to the wider world and to other religions. Several teachers attended the talks.
On September 20, 2013 in Riga, Latvia, on the occasion on the International Day of Peace the private secondary school Klasika invited Jacques Marion, UPF-Eurasia Peace Initiative coordinator, to meet with students. A talk was given to two different classes – an elder group from 11th form and a younger one from 9thform. Jacques Marion spoke about the UPF Peace Initiatives and vision, relating the current Syrian conflict to the need for an Interreligious Council at the United Nation, and emphasizing the importance to open one’s mind to the world, to other religions, particularly for European young people.
