A peace festival event was held in Zhytomir on April 23 and was dedicated to the prevention of negative habits. The event was held in the biggest university of Zhytomir Citiy. The vice-city mayor gave the opening speech. Then a concert program was held, showing videos against drug and alcohol abuse. Volunteers talked about the consequences of bad habits. Four hundred students attended the concert. After the main event there was a meeting with volunteers who were active in the festival.

Montevideo, Uruguay - Uruguay is a small, peaceful and beautiful country – and for anyone spiritually connected to the UPF work, going to Uruguay has an aspect of coming home. When Dr. Hyun Jin Moon came here on April 21, 2008, to meet and greet, that he would be received by leaders of government, business, academia, and the clergy, 70 or 90 at a time, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Lima, Peru - In the past few years, the UPF movement in Peru has focused on teaching administrators, teachers, and students at universities, colleges, high schools, and technical and vocational schools. They have in recent years focused on teaching at the nation’s leading pedagogical university.

A Seminar on Good Governance organized for the members of Mali's National Assembly took place on April 19, 2008, at the National Assembly headquarters. The opening ceremony was chaired by the President of the National Assembly, H.E. Dioncounda Traore.

San Jose, Costa Rica - Peace education is being carried out through the Tele-paz channel, which broadcasts from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm daily, including programs featuring Ambassadors for Peace. Ten to twenty calls come in each day from around the country from people who want more information.

On April 12, Montreal headquarters held a seminar to continue educating Ambassadors for Peace about the vision and activities of UPF. Among the seven guests were three Islamic women leaders, a Korean War veteran, and a Sikh professor and his friend who is a Pakistani Muslim leader.

The Universal Peace Federation-Canada re-launched its series of monthly forums in Toronto with a special gathering on April 12, 2008. The purpose of the gathering was to emphasize the core purpose of UPF, broaden attendance at meetings, and introduce the Global Peace Festival to be held in Ottawa in October.

UPF-NL hosted a talk by Sentinelzorg director Henna Linger on the theme "Uw zorg, wordt onze zorg" ("Your concern is our concern"). Wim Koetsier commented, "If you help others you make a connection, then people will respect each other more because they know each other personally. We are not created to love alone."

April 4 was the 40th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Rev. Darryl Gray, senior pastor of the Imani Family Full Gospel Church, feeling that the occasion deserved public recognition, organized the only commemoration service held in the city of Montreal.
