Peace Education

UPF organizes seminars and conferences that present core values and universal principles of peacebuilding.

On January 12, 2008, around 20 people, including 15 guests, gathered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to learn more about UPF and to get to know each other better, since time is always short at the monthly breakfast meetings.

Chisinau, Moldova - Hundreds of leaders from all levels of society throughout Moldova attended a November 17, 2007 program in Chisinau at the Leogrand Convention Center. Civil society, religious leaders, and government officials throughout the world are looking for solutions to key global problems. The conference challenged participants to decide on ways to promote harmony, prosperity, and peace instead of crises, conflicts, and wars.

Washington, DC - An International Leadership Conference entitled “Toward a New Paradigm of Leadership and Good Governance” took place in Washington, DC, Dec. 16-19, 2007. Twelve Eurasians were among the 140 participants. The conference addressed two main issues: the development of an “Abel UN” and the unity of North and South America.

On the December 8, 2007, celebration in Mauritius of Sai Baba’s 82nd birthday, UPF was represented by Jessica Chung To, who offered a prayer and read a message of peace to the 300 participants.

A four-member delegation from Universal Peace Federation paid a visit to The Gambia as part of efforts to introduce the federation to the country. The delegation, which arrived on August 31, hosted by. Ebrima Jadama of the Family Federation for World Peace, included Kue Youl-Lee, Mina Takakusaki, Louice Miyake, and Nana Toril.

A peace festival in Benin took place on October 26 - 29, 2007, in the coastal cities of Ouidah, the historic slave-trade port, and Cotonou, Benin's economic capital and main city.

Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., appealed to more 400 leaders of the Universal Peace Federation gathered in New York City to make a new commitment to fulfilling the dream of peace.

UPF-India organized a program in Chennai on August 10, 2007, on the theme: "Innovative Approaches to Peace in a Changing Global Environment." The special focus was on youth and human security.

An enlightening conference at the September 2007 Global Peace Festival in London aimed to provide some answers to questions such as “how can communities hand down traditions and values from old to young?” Sudhir Kundi Ji inaugurated this conference by introducing himself and the ethos of the Sant Nirankari Mission by stating that through spiritual awakening, or the knowledge of God, man could become closer to his fellow men and this Almighty God.

A peace festival was held in Offenbach City Hall, near Frankfurt, Germany, on September 7, 2007. Participants included some 1,000 activists from the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Norway as well as the host nation.
