Gangtok, Sikkim, India - The Universal Peace Federation of India, in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resource Development Department and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department, Government of Sikkim was honoured to have H.E. Sudharshan Agawal, the Governor of Sikkim, as Chief Guest for its June 19, 2008, conference.

About 100 participants attended the June 14 seminar in Hilden, Germany, entitled: ”The Original Human Nature Is in Each of Us”, in the Hotel am Stadtpark, some traveling from as far away as Bonn, Cologne, Frankfurt, and even the Netherlands. Herbert Beyer moderated the eight-hour program, which showed no signs of being long-winded or boring.

Ottawa, Canada - More than 50 UPF Ambassadors for Peace gathered at Les Suites Hotel in Ottawa for a national conference on June 7. Participants came from Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa. Interest in the conference exceeded the expectations of the organizers.

The Universal Peace Federation convened its first International Leadership Conference (ILC) for the Middle East region on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus May 23-25, 2008. Forty Ambassadors for Peace – new and old – gathered from 11 nations in the region for a special program that combined UPF presentations with active involvement through panel discussions and breakout sessions.

The Americas Summit in Washington, DC, April 28 to May 2, 2008, brought together 160 delegates from 32 nations in North and South America from Canada to Argentina and Chile to consider the challenges and opportunities for better relationships throughout the hemisphere. The conference participants included six former heads of state and government, four current speakers of the house, 27 congressmen and senators from different legislatures, members of the diplomatic corps, clergy from key faith traditions, and community, youth and women leaders.
