J.-P. Ostberg: Road to World Peace
May 16, 2014
Jerusalem is a holy city for Jews, Muslims and Christians, roughly half of the world population, and can only be dealt with successfully on the basis of interfaith work, which UPF is so good at. If the path of reconciliation can be the main direction for the region it opens up great possibilities.
S. Watt: Reflections on the MEPI Pilgrimage for Peace

This visit to Israel has strengthened my resolve to be an agent of change and an Ambassador for Peace in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi who said, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world."
S. Watt: Overcoming Conflict through Education and Conciliation
May 14, 2014
Let me conclude with suggesting a modest proposal for reviving the stalled peace process between Israelis and Palestinians: have a strong parallel track-two negotiation path, a track where Israeli and Palestinian women get together and try to succeed. The women selected for alternative peace talks should have personal experiences at the grass-roots level and bring their visions into the negotiation process in the hope of finding more common ground for making peace.
E. Glaubach: The Middle East Conflict - Alternative Options for Agreement
April 30, 2014
When the parties to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process reached an impasse, despite the efforts of US Secretary of State John Kerry, it was quite clear that the process is on the verge of failure.
C. Baráibar: Towards a New Paradigm for Peace and Human Development in Latin America
April 22, 2014
The respect for self-determination and the rule of international law must guide countries’ foreign policies. We have to work to widen the bonds of cooperation and friendship with other countries as a contribution to the common task of world peace, and a more equal international order should be the main objective.
H.J.H. Moon: Building a World of Lasting Peace in the Americas and the World
April 22, 2014
After we founded the Universal Peace Federation in 2005, my husband initiated a world tour to 120 countries, visiting one country each day to share his vision of peace, even at the risk of his life. At that time, and continuing throughout 2006, we, along with many of our children and even grandchildren, spoke to audiences in nearly every nation of South, Central and North America. In fact, we continued to share this message all across the world.
A. Geronik: Adoption of the 'Nordic Balance System' to a Security Regime in the Middle East
April 13, 2014
The significant political change that must take place in the Middle East, if the intention is to adopt the Nordic Balance model, will be characterized by the turning of Jordan and the future Palestinian state into neutral states. Neutrality is perceived as an attractive policy for small nations which, because of their strategic location or symbolic political value, stand or may stand in the focus of a struggle for influence or control by regional or global rivals.
W. Schwimmer: The European Dream
April 5, 2014
I believe that we have taken a great step forward, and with the help of all who believe in the vision of our founding fathers we shall accomplish the vision of a united Europe.
C. Bakboord: The Orchestra of Love and Peace
February 13, 2014
We have to move to the next level and make people aware that violence is wrong and that the consequences have an adverse impact on peace and human development. I will keep on empowering women and educating men their responsibilities. And this time I ill not do that only from an “against violence” approach but also from one in favor of love, peace and harmony.
H. Ramzy: Conflict Resolution and Peace in the Middle East
February 12, 2014
Is peace possible in Middle East? My answer is yes. But we need a different approach. We need diplomacy both at a political and a cultural level. There must be peace between parties and peoples, between nations and neighborhoods. We must have understanding between people at all levels, in all capacities, in order for a lasting peace to have a chance.
M. Al-Hussaini Alsharif: Toward a New Paradigm for Peace and Human Development
February 12, 2014
Within the framework of international efforts to combat violence and evil acts of terrorism and atrocities, it is all the more imperative to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This is one of the major causes of instability and insecurity in the Middle East region. By resolving this conflict and achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace, we will deny those who commit violence based on the premise of achieving justice for Palestinians the right to use this noble issue for their own evil objectives.
L.S. Sfeir: The Spirit of 'Awneh'
February 10, 2014
This Lebanese practice of "joining hands" consists of leveraging skills and human resources for the purpose of development and peace. In Lebanon, where we have 18 extremely distinct religious communities, the spirit of Awneh has cemented them all together, whether Christians, Muslims or Jews.
A. Zhebin: North Korea's Factors of Stability and Future Developments
February 10, 2014
Until the North Korean nomenclature are given clear-cut guarantees of their personal safety and certain level of well-being, they would be cautious about implementing any reforms and moving towards denuclearization and re-unification. Pyongyang also expects that Beijing would continue to treat the DPRK as an important buffer state separating China from the U.S. forward deployment forces in East Asia. The economic situation and primarily the food problem remains a major challenge for the regime.
H.J.H. Moon: Founder's Address to the International Leadership Conference
February 10, 2014
Always be aware that your life on this earth is temporary. After we complete our physical life, we will ascend to the spiritual world. In that place we are not measured by our wealth or power. We are measured simply by our capacity for true love and the extent to which we lived our lives on earth in service to God and humanity.
M.D. Traore: Toward a New Paradigm for Peace and Human Development
February 10, 2014
We must all commit ourselves to the quest for peace in the world. We must commit ourselves so that peace reigns in our families and in our communities. We must sow peace, cultivate peace, and persist so we can reap peace, security and development.
H. Yamada: Building a Roadmap for Peace in Northeast Asia
February 10, 2014
China has a new posture [towards North Korea], and South Korea, the U.S. and Japan cooperate with it. That could be the one and only strategy to ease the North Korean problem. Japan should cooperate and contribute as much as she can. But having said that, we, the majority of Japanese, have a most unsettled feeling. We wonder, are others willing to let Japan make a cooperative contribution?
C.S. Yang: Creating a Roadmap for the Korean Peninsula
February 10, 2014
In the case of the Korean peninsula, a small spark has the potential to ignite a devastating world war that would bring in its wake, unspeakable suffering for the people of this nation and region. We cannot rely exclusively on governments to resolve this crisis. Civil society has an important role to play in global affairs, and has unique capacities to initiate “soft power” approaches to conflict resolution and peace.
S. Fukai: Women for Sustainable Development
February 10, 2014
Women have the potential power to change both their government policies and the wasteful lifestyle. It is essential to promote women’s awareness of the nature of global crisis, and to activate their potential to lead the paradigm shift towards a sustainable world.
H. Hong: Building a Roadmap for Peace in Northest Asia
February 10, 2014
The United States government and China are expecting too much from South Korea. The South Korean government should play a more active and creative role, of course. The South Korean government should realize that it would be the greatest victim in the eventuality of North Korea developing nuclear weapons. So we should make proposals that may be accepted by not just North Korea but also the United States and China. That includes the guarantee of security for North Korea so that they can renounce any plan for developing nuclear weapons.
M. Timofti: Towards a New Paradigm for Peace and Human Development
February 10, 2014
Moldovans are people with a good spiritual culture with rich traditions and customs which they love and respect. The institution of the family is something we care about very much. Children and young people are the future of our country; therefore, we need to invest as much as possible in their education and development.
