Lima, Peru—UPF-Peru celebrated the Global Day of Parents 2019 by organizing a forum, which was attended by 300 people. The event took place on May 27 in Lima, Peru’s capital, and featured six speakers:
- Héctor Jhon Caro, vice president of UPF-Peru;
- Faith Jones, member of the board of directors of UPF-Peru;
- Congressman Luis Alberto Yika García;
- Maria Elena Portocarrero Zamora, dean of the Lima Bar Association;
- Teresa Otiniano Castillo, member of the UPF-Peru Presidential Council; and
- Milka Silva Mendoza, president and executive of Veritas Jure Vox Dei.
They spoke about the important and sacrificial role parents play in their homes to promote peace in the family, society, nation and world, recognizing the value of the traditional family unit as the fundamental basis to form values and guiding principles of peace.
The event concluded with the appointment of 16 new Ambassadors for Peace in recognition of their work for the welfare of others. Among those who were appointed was Dr. Zamora.
Also awarded was an Ambassador for Peace medal to Congressman García for his work in the service of society.
