Munich, Germany - On the occasion of the World Interfaith Harmony Week that was proclaimed by the UN, the Universal Peace Federation-Munich organized an interreligious conference on February 1. The topic of the event was Living with the one God – Foundation for a Culture of Peace? / Who is God, Jahweh, Allah?
The conference opened with the reading of prayers of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Following this, speakers of different religions and faith communities gave talks about the topic, resulting in a lively conversation among the approximately 40 participants.
At the beginning, the MC, from UPF, spoke about the value of interreligious dialogue in building peace and explained the understanding in the UPF that God is a personal being and a parent for humankind.
Furthermore, an imam of a Munich mosque, a Roman Catholic theologian, and a practitioner of the Christian Science Church gave their points of view about God, living with Him, reconciliation, and peace building.
Faith in one God and the living relationship to Him is indeed a foundation for peace. There are many more elements in common among the world religions than there are differences. A peaceful world family under one God is possible. That was the conclusion of this successful encounter of religious communities.
