Kathmandu, Nepal - UPF-Nepal partnered with Religion for Peaces and Nepal Anuvrat Samiti (Nepal Commitment Society of the Jain tradition) to hold a UN World Interfaith Harmony Week celebration in Kathmandu on February 7. An essay competition focusing on students was held with the theme, "Celebrating Interfaith Harmony for Love and Service to One Another." The venue was a local government school.
The winner of the contest was Ms. Indra Kala Khadka, a 14-year-old student in the ninth grade, who said that “through this program we could understand the common teachings of all religions… Unity among religions can bring world peace because they teach duty and responsibility.”
Religious leaders from 12 faith traditions attended, and there were 123 people in the audience.
