Kathmandu, Nepal—UPF-Nepal, together with the National Interreligious Network Nepal, Active Youth Society and Religions for Peace, held an event to commemorate UN World Interfaith Harmony Week, on February 6, 2017 at the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu.
About 51 people attended the event. The program opened with a ceremony in which faith leaders and representatives lit candles and poured water into a common vessel, symbolizing the unity of religions and cultures. Afterwards, they each gave remarks and then offered a prayer together.
A debate competition for students on the topic of interfaith harmony followed the first session, and prizes were awarded to the winners.
