Nepal-2018-02-05-Nepal Observes World Interfaith Harmony Week

Lalitpur, Nepal—UPF-Nepal held an event from February 4 to 5, 2018 at Nagarjuna Academy to commemorate U.N. World Interfaith Harmony Week 2018. There were 195 attendees from different communities and faiths, including college students and spiritual leaders, who gave speeches and prayed together for interfaith harmony. After this session, students participated in a debate competition with prizes on the topic of interfaith harmony. UPF-Nepal gave Ambassador for Peace awards to five VIPs from the education sector.

The next day, on February 5, participants reconvened for a presentation by Guru Damodar Gautam, a Hindu religious leader, on the value of interfaith harmony and peace.

Mr. Binod Dangi addressed the gathering on the value of UPF’s work organizing the World Interfaith Harmony Week and promoting religious harmony and peace in Nepal.

Mr. Narendra Pandey stressed the need for all faiths to work together for peace. Former member of parliament, Ms. Milan Rajbanshi, spoke about the interfaith activities of UPF founders, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, and the worldwide network of Ambassadors for Peace.

The participants were enthusiastic, expressing their desire for UPF and interfaith groups to organize more character education, peace education and interfaith programs in the future.
