Odivelas, Portugal—UPF and an affiliated organization, Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), were invited by the mayor of Odivelas to participate in the city’s World Interfaith Harmony Week events and activities.
The opening session, on February 1, 2020, was held at the Odivelas Exhibition Center, and the closing session, on February 7, was held at a municipal high school.
As this period was simultaneous with the events of World Summit 2020, which were taking place in Korea, UPF was represented by its vice president.
Participants included leaders of several recognized confessions in Portugal, such as the Catholic Church, Evangelicalism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Tocoist Church, among others.
There were some presentations about peace and harmony from the various leaders and also a program of visiting the temples of some of the confessions.
It was a very good way to let others know about our organization and to make some friendships by networking, as a preparation for the future inauguration in Portugal of the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD), a UPF initiative.
