Nagoya: On September 20, a prayer meeting for the International Day of Peace was held at a hall in Nagoya. Not only UPF volunteers and Ambassadors for Peace from central Japan, but also people from the local community were actively engaged in preparing this meeting, and nearly 250 participants attended the meeting. After giving an explanation on the significance and history of the International Day of Peace, Ms. Kyoko Sato, a UPF volunteer from Japan to New York, read aloud the UPF Peace Declaration on behalf of the participants. Then, all participants offered a prayer for peace. The meeting concluded with a commemorative photo with Rev. Hideo Oyamada, Chairman of UPF-Japan.
Arakawa: On September 21, in commemoration of the International Day of Peace, youth volunteers, centering on Youth Ambassadors for Peace, came together for a clean-up project along the Arakawa River. Despite the rainy weather, a total of 93 youths gathered to participate. After an opening prayer and a brief explanation of the International Day of Peace, the participants mowed the grass, picked up trash, and separated it by type. The participants gathered for a commemorative photo shoot at the end of the day.
