Prague, Czech Republic - On September 21, 300 people gathered to celebrate the International Day of Peace 2008 with the theme, "When we change, the world changes." Brahma Kumaris welcomed people to the celebration, which began at 12:00 noon and featured music and dance groups, including the WAIT Team from Prague. The Pilsen Police and nonprofit organizations took part in program. UPF Secretary General, Mr. Juraj Lajda, spoke briefly about UPF's purpose.
As one of the organizers, UPF had a display with videos and printed materials about the importance of the family, the United Nations and proposals for its renewal, the Middle East Peace Initiative, the Bering Strait Crossing project, and the Global Peace Festival in London in November. People stopped by to discuss their concerns and ideas about how to build peace. We met interesting people who talked about how volunteerism is their way of life, and we discovered new possibilities for future cooperation.
