Macau, China - The Macau UNESCO Center was the setting for an Interfaith Meeting for World Peace and Development on September 21, 2008. Sixty people attended the event, which was sponsored by Universal Peace Federation, the Family Federation for World Peace, the International Educational Foundation, Tongil Moo Do, and the Macau Foundation.

Emcee Ms. Vilma Possamai introduced Dr. Chang Chuan-Fong, president of the Family Federation for World Peace in Macau, who gave the opening remarks. Ms. Alice Huang, Asia director of the International Educational Foundation, gave the keynote presentation entitled: “The UN Millennium Development Goals: The Role of Civil Society and UPF.”

This was followed by interfaith prayers led by Susan Pottier, from the Baha'i faith; Prof. U Thaung Ounge, of the Canadian College of Macau, representing Buddhism; Sister Jiang, from the Macau St. Paul School, representing Roman Catholicism; Mr. Dondy Verzosa, founder of All Nations Church in Macau, representing Christianity; and Dr. Chang Chuan-Fong, representing the Family Federation for World Peace.

After a reading of the Peace Declaration by Dr. Victoria Lei, President of the Macau New Youth Association, a video was shown about the Global Peace Festival in the Philippines and Mongolia.
