Day of Peace in Ukraine

Ukraine - One hundred people participated in the International Day of Peace 2008 celebration at the New Vision Secondary School of Oriental Languages in Kiev. The project was organized in close cooperation with United Nations Office in Ukraine. There was a peace lesson and presentations about the International Day of Peace from a UN staff person and NGO leaders. Middle school students held a colorful peace parade in the school hall and released doves of peace and balloons with the word “peace” in the six languages taught at the school. Students wrote essays on the theme “I Vote for Peace” and prepared a message for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The message, signed by 300 students, was presented to the UN office in Ukraine.
