Day of Peace in Asuncion

Asunción, Paraguay - The International Day of Peace 2008 was celebrated in the former Senate Chamber in the historic Cabildo building on September 21. Among the 120 people in attendance were officials from the ministries of Education, Culture, and the Environment as well as Ambassadors for Peace, lawyers and educators.
UPF's Peace Declaration was read, and a video was shown about the Global Peace Festival in Asunción in July. Seeing those images brought joy and happiness to many faces in the audience as people remembered those events. As videos were shown of the Global Peace Festival in the United States, Kenya, and more recently Mongolia, people felt a renewed commitment to make the vision of "One Family under God" a reality in Paraguay.
Mr. Jesús González, who is in charge of education for UPF in Latin America, has made a tremendous impact locally with his lectures on character, heart, love, and family, which people recognize as essential elements of the culture of peace which everyone desires.
