Haifa, Israel - The celebration of the UN International Day of Peace took place in the City Hall, courtesy of the City Secretary and under the auspices of the Women's Federation for World Peace, Israel. The 11 participants included women from Haifa, Jerusalem, Usfia, and Daliat El Carmel, representing three religious communities: Christian, Jewish, and Druze.
The event was opened by the president of the Israel branch, Mrs. Rosa Shmueli, who extended blessings for happy holidays: the Jewish New Year, Rosh Ha'Shana, and the Muslim Id El Fitr. The Peace Declaration of the Universal Peace Federation was read in English by Secretary General Mrs. Adi Sasaki and translated into Hebrew by Women's Federation for World Peace member Mrs. Miriam Stein-Grosman. Then the participants introduced themselves and engaged in a joint activity dealing with values of peace and family, which are honored by everybody.
These values are expressed in the motto and activities of the Women Federation for World Peace, Israel, through lectures and workshops on true family values. The gathering ended with the signing of the Peace Declaration and taking group photos.
