Chisinau, Moldova - Eighty people celebrated the International Day of Peace in a September 20 meeting organized by the Universal Peace Federation. Among those present were university professors, NGO leaders, media representatives, religious leaders, friends, relatives, and guests. That evening, the national radio broadcast interviews with organizers of the event and participants.
Key speakers were Ambassadors for Peace Mrs. Otilia Stamatin, president of Republican Movement “Pedagogues for Peace and Mutual Understanding”; Mrs. Raisa Bradutanu, president of the Women's Federation for World Peace in Moldova; and Mr. Calestru Mihai, assistant pastor of the Unification Church of Moldova. Messages were read on the theme of "The Family as the Cornerstone of World Peace in the Twenty-First Century."
