Asuncion, Paraguay - UPF-Paraguay organized an International Leadership Conference on the Principles of Democracy for Peace and Good Governance at the Grand Hotel Paraguay in Asuncion on the International Day of Peace, September 21.

Before the main lecture by President Aristides Rondán, words of welcome were delivered by two Ambassadors for Peace: former Senator Cesar Benitez and Nancy Paredes de Acosta, Director General of the Office of the Vice Minister of Religious Affairs, on behalf of the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs. She reported about the interfaith programs of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The 55 participants included members of the UPF Peace Council: Rev. Otmar Graml, Evaristo Fernandez (President of the Family Federation for World Peace), Roque Antonio Benitez (President of the Youth Federation for World Peace), and Perla Ester Jara (President of the International Educational Foundation-PAZ); Ambassadors for Peace; government guests: Dr. Felipe Samaniego (Member of the Senate) and Maria Gonzalez Baez (Secretary of Women, Presidency of the Republic); and academics, lawyers, and directors of colleges.

All present expressed their appreciation for the program and desire to participate promoting peace in the world. Twenty-one new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed.
