Moscow, Russia - Near the Moscow Memorial to the anti-Fascist coalition, UPF-Russia joined other partners and youth organizations a ceremony commemorating the International Day of Peace on September 21. In front of several hundred participants, the director of the UN office in Moscow read the message of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. In addition, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of the Government of Moscow spoke.
School children offered flowers at the memorial and received special flags as peacemakers from UN officials. Finally, many schools received an award from the UN office for their investment in peacebuilding in Russia. To see so many young people becoming part of this peace effort gives hope for the future.
