Poetry Contest Winners to Be Announced on the International Day of Peace

Spanish

FOURTH INTERNATIONAL POETRY COMPETITION OF UPF-Argentina

Theme: "Words of meeting and universal consciousness"

Commemorating the International Day of Peace 2012

"Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed." - Preamble of the Constitution of UNESCO (1945)

RULES

1. Objective: The egocentric ambitions by various interests, confrontations still used for different reasons, as well as natural and unnatural disasters seem to leave our planet at some times on the verge of collapse, but inside of us persists with intensity the longing for peace. We cannot ignore the effort and sacrifice of great men and women of all ages offering their lives for this cause. On their legacy and their basis of common values of all cultures and spiritual traditions, which testify to a universal brotherhood, a world of peace remains as an imperative, a possible goal, a task to accomplish, and an unavoidable moral duty.

It is hoped that this aspiration can be reflected in writings submitted to the International Poetry Competition “Words of meeting and universal consciousness” in commemoration of the International Day of Peace established by the UN in 1981 (Resolution 36/67), “devoted to. commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace in each nation and people and between them”

2. Formalities: The International Poetry Competition “Words of meeting and universal consciousness” is open to poets, artists, students, and anyone who feels inspired to express content with universal value about this topic. Each participant may submit up to two poems in Spanish, and they must state their personal information on the papers: Name, surname, and origin of the author (city, state, and country). Also a phone number and an e-mail where they can be informed of the evaluation of the jury in case theirs is a winning poem. The format is a poem written in verse which should fit on an A4-size paper, printed in 12 point type. The poem can be sent by e-mail to: This email address is being protected from spambots.
