UPF-Nepal along with religious institutions, schools, scouts, students, teachers, and government officials organized programs in nine cities: Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Chitwan, Pokhara, Dharan, Nepalgunj, Bhaktapur, Jhapa, and Hetuada. All the programs were conducted on September 21, designated by the United Nations as the International Day of Peace.

The International Day of Peace precedes the opening of the UN General Assembly each year. All nations and people have been invited to work with the UN to commemorate this day. It is meant to be a day when hostiles cease and public awareness is raised on issues related to peace.

The first International Day of Peace was held in 1982. The theme for this year was “Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future.”
