Day of Peace Observed in Nicaragua

Managua, Nicaragua - About 80 people from all walks of the Nicaraguan society gathered on September 21 at the UPF headquarters in Managua to celebrate the International Day of Peace.

The Rev. Alfredo Joiner Peña, Regional Secretary of the Latin American Council of Churches, opened the program with a prayer for the peace of the world. Then two songs about peace giving joy to the surroundings were presented, inspiring those who were present.

Following this, Lic. Ivania Toruño, former Minister of the Family in Nicaragua, gave welcoming words to all, emphasizing the importance of peace for all. Also, Lic. Ana Rosa Fonseca, a lawyer and representative of UPF of the city of Leon, gave a moving presentation about the Day of Peace. To conclude the event, the Rev. Jorge Luiz de Oliveira offered some impressions and shared a poem titled “Dream of Peace.”

Refreshments were shared by all, concluding the observance of the International Day of Peace.
