There were three celebrations of the International Day of Peace in DR Congo: in Kinshasa in partnership with the military, police, and civil authorities; in Moanda in Bas-Congo, 700 km from Kinshasa; and in Kikwit in the province of Bandundu, 500 km from Kinshasa.

Twenty-four Ambassadors for Peace attended a meeting in Kinshasa on September 14 led by Mrs. Charlotte Makulo, one of DR Congo’s Ambassadors for Peace and an NGO leader. First of all, she thanked the UPF for inviting her and making her feel so welcome. Compared to meetings she has attended elsewhere, UPF is special because of the family attitude and interaction among participants. The diversity and the depth of the themes are remarkable. She praised the achievements of UPF Founder Father Sun Myung Moon in his lifetime and expressed regret that he passed away while Africa and the world are still in need of him. She expressed confidence in the leadership of Mrs. Hak Ja Han Moon. She encouraged Ambassadors for Peace to work hard because UPF is an international organization affiliated with the UN Economic and Social Council and especially because peacebuilding requires sacrifice.
