Helsinki, Finland - UPF-Finland and the Africans and African-Europeans Association held a joint program on Sept. 13 commemorating the International Day of Peace and Africa Day.

There were presentations addressing views, concerns as well as aspirations of African young immigrants. Also, Ms. Johanna Broman, Ambassador for Peace, talked about how to improve communication between immigrants and Finns.

The presentations evoked lively discussions, and there were questions and opinions from the audience on how to improve the integration of immigrants in Finland from the immigrants’ viewpoint.

There was an atmosphere of openness which allowed immigrants to raise their grievances as well as Finns to express their difficulties when making efforts to meet immigrants in neighborhoods.

Delicious food and good music opened the hearts of participants even more, and the evening was a peacebuilding opportunity among the international community in Helsinki in its truest essence.
