Jakarta, Indonesia—UPF-Indonesia observed the UN International Day of Peace by organizing four programs at three different schools in Jakarta on September 20 and 23, 2016. A total of 250 students participated in the events.
Programs 1 & 2
The first two programs took place at Muhammadiyah No. 15 high school on September 20. Mr. David McLackland, education director of UPF-Indonesia, taught one class of students the “Universal Principles and Life Goals.” The principal of the school was so inspired by the content of the lecture that he asked Mr. McLackland to teach another class right afterwards.
Program 3
Also on September 20, UPF organized a program at Barunawaty High School. The principal of the school warmly welcomed Mr. McLackland and Mrs. Maria Christyana Sembiring, director of student and youth affairs of UPF-Indonesia, at his office before Mr. McLackland taught a class on “The Need to Educate for Character.”
Program 4
The fourth program took place at Junior High School 111 Jakarta on September 23. The school had invited UPF to conduct a character education program on “The Family is the School for Love and Peace.” Over 70 students attended the program.
