Marshall-Islands-2016-09-24-International Day of Peace Observed in Marshall Islands

Majuro, Marshall Islands—A former president, a UN representative, and religious leaders were among those celebrating the 2016 International Day of Peace.

The chapter of UPF located in the Republic of the Marshall Islands held the event on September 24 in the Jakaro Room of the Marshall Islands Resort. The 15 participants were mostly Ambassadors for Peace.

Acting as the master of ceremonies, Rev. Kenichi Ito, the president and secretary general of UPF of the Marshall Islands, gave a brief explanation about the UN International Day of Peace. He then read the UPF International official statement on the special day.

An interfaith prayer for world peace was offered by representatives from Catholicism (Mr. Terry Keju), Protestantism (businessman Mr. Jim Philippo) and Islam (Imam Joyia).
