Managua, Nicaragua—UPF-Nicaragua commemorated the International Day of Peace 2016 by organizing events at two universities.
Managua
The first program took place in Managua on September 28, 2016 in the hall of the University of Commercial Sciences (UCC), and was attended by 80 people, including faculty, staff and students of the university. Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Bergman Padilla, president of the UCC; Dr. Julio Montiel, vice chancellor of the UCC; and engineer Mr. Agustín Jarquín Anaya.
After a prayer was offered by Rev. Jorge de Oliveira, a representative of UPF-Nicaragua, Dr. Ivania Toruño, former minister of the family of Nicaragua, spoke about the challenges of education.
Then Pastor Wendy Puerto spoke about the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event concluded with a presentation on “Spiritual Values, Leadership and Peace,” which was given by Rev. de Oliveira.
Carazo
The second program took place on October 1 at Paulo Freire University in San Marcos, Carazo, and was organized by UPF in partnership with the university.
The chancellor of the university, Dr. Adrián Meza Soza, especially supported the organization of the event, and was a wonderful inspiration to all the participants.
