International Day of Peace Observed in Kazakhstan

Pavlodar, Kazakhstan—More than 30 participants attended the seminar "Peacemaking Means Responsibility for the Fate of the Planet.”
Scouts, peacemakers and members of the “Peer” club attended the program, which was held to mark the UN International Day of Peace. The event was organized by the Scout Center and the Children's Peace Center in the regional Palace of Schoolchildren on September 23, 2016.
The main task was to educate Young Ambassadors for Peace to inspire others and attract public attention to the goal of bringing world peace.
The participants discussed the theme of the 2016 International Day of Peace: “Sustainable Development Goals: Building Blocks for Peace."
Any person who is actively working for world peace can be a peacemaker. A peacemaker must inspire people to goodness, support peace and security in the world.
The Pavlodar Scouts are both volunteers and peacemakers, carrying out various actions, such as "Our Smaller Brothers" in a shelter for homeless animals; "Speak Kazakh"; "March of Surprises"; "Grandma! Congratulations!" in a nursing home, and many others. They do all these actions on a voluntary basis and free of charge!
Scouts as experienced peacemakers explained to the students the essence of their volunteer activities and peacemaking. The outcome of the training was the action "Take It as a Keepsake," aimed at promoting the International Day of Peace. More than 30 passers-by received the information about the meaning of the UN-designated day.

Tolerance as the Path to Peace
The 30 participants of the seminar "Tolerance as the Path to Peace" role-played life situations, listed the best qualities of a volunteer peacemaker and wrote "letters of goodness." The initiators of the event were the Scout Center and the Children’s Peace Center. The main goal was the education of young peacemakers.
The program consisted of several sections: presentation of a true volunteer, analyzing different situations, practical actions, and a flash-mob for peace. The result of this activity was a final action: “Letters of Goodness,” aimed at promoting the International Day of Peace.
Similar to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, such actions will help the children to contribute to the life of Pavlodar region and Kazakhstan as a whole.
Pavlodar City is famous for its volunteering and for the environmental movement. In November 2015, the city confirmed its unofficial title of “City of Goodness” when it was awarded the social premium "Do Goodness." The Regional Children's Peace Center teaches children the purest motives: helping others, and peace and harmony between the peoples of our independent and tolerant country.
Recently the Regional Children's Peace Center received a letter from the Russian city of Vladimir. That city’s House of Peace, which has 58 branches in many countries, invited the Pavlodar Center to work together in cooperation. This proves that goodness and peace have no boundaries.
Further evidence of this was the Peace Center’s participation in the wonderful UPF contest of projects related to the Day of Peace.
