Valletta, Malta—About 35 Maltese celebrated their nation’s Independence Day and the UN International Day of Peace simultaneously by taking part in a Peace Road event.
The group set forth from the harbor town of Msida, toward the capital, Valletta—a walk of about 3 kilometers (almost 2 miles).
Members of the Maltese chapters of UPF and affiliated organizations Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) and Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) took part in the September 21, 2017, event.
Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, a former government minister, and other guests were among the participants.
Waving flags and holding banners, the participants gave out flyers to interested people along the way.
They released several white doves at the starting point of the walk.
The group stopped for pictures at the War Memorial in the town of Floriana and outside the prime minister's office in Valletta.
The Peace Road event finished at the UPF offices on St. Paul's Street, where UPF staff showed a video about the UN International Day of Peace and gave a presentation about Peace Road events around the world.
This was followed by refreshments for this group of "peace warriors."
