Germany-2018-09-21-Düsseldorf Holds International Day of Peace Concert

Düsseldorf, Germany—The local branch of UPF found a new way to commemorate the International Day of Peace—by holding a “peace concert.”

Every September, UPF-Düsseldorf organizes an event for the United Nations-sanctioned holiday. Usually these events are lectures on the topic of peace, but this year they decided to celebrate it through art and music, inviting young, talented musicians to move the hearts of the audience which included Ambassadors for Peace, friends and family.

UPF-Düsseldorf organized the concert in the UPF Peace Embassy with the support of the Hyo Jeong Arts & Culture Department, an initiative of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), an organization affiliated with UPF.

The organizers were grateful to the professional musicians Ryosuke Sato (tenor), Erika Kamura (piano) and Yurie Kamura (piano) for their stellar performance of classical and pop songs and to Hirooki Hatori for exhibiting his artwork.

Here's the program the musicians put together:
Schubert – “Ave Maria”
Pagliacci – “Serenade”
Mozart – Aria no. 17 from the opera Così fan tutte
“O sole mio”
Tchaikovsky – Nutcracker Suite “March,” “Sugar Plum Fairy” and “Russian Dancers (Trepak)”
Ryoko Moriyama – “Nada Sousou”
Masafumi Akikawa – “Sen no kaze ni natte”
“Time to Say Goodbye”

The audience gave a standing ovation and didn't let the musicians go without hearing two encores:
“Ending Theme” from the film Princess Mononoke
Bellini – “Ma rendi pur contento”
