Pointe-Noire, Congo—The Congo chapter of Youth and Students for Peace, in conjunction with UPF-Congo, celebrated the UN International Day of Peace by holding a conference at the DGC Institute on September 21, 2019.
The conference, which hosted about 45 participants, was opened by the Christian pastor Goma Pinda Gaspard. DGC Vice President Ngangoyi opened the event with words of welcome, which was followed by the UN secretary general’s message for International Day of Peace 2019, read by Mrs. Audrey Ndoudi, Secretary for the Promotion of Women, representing UNESCO. Mr. Augustin Zodji, of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, spoke on the theme “Peace Starts With Me,” followed by a question-and-answer session.
Entertainment included a musical performance of the song “Peace One Day.” This was followed by the Resolution for Peace which was read by Miss Kolime Vanessa and signed by all present. Closing remarks were given by Congo’s Youth and Students for Peace president, Mr. Loko Yvan.
On the following day, members of Youth and Students for Peace held a joint worship service in collaboration with the Church Center for Evangelization and Christian Impact.
