Brazil-2019-09-21-UPF-Brazil Holds Conference to Mark UN International Day of Peace

Sorocaba City, Brazil—In celebration of the UN International Day of Peace, UPF-Brazil held a conference at the meeting room of the Sorocaba City Council Social Tribune. Dr. Simão Ferabolli, UPF-Brazil president, led the program.

On this occasion, three representatives of the local legislature were appointed Ambassadors for Peace: the president of the City Council Chamber, Fernando Dini; the oldest councilor with six mandates, Jose Martinez; and Councilman Rodrigo Manga, who is a defender of family and faith, and a great supporter of UPF in Sorocaba.

In addition to the councilors present and the audience, TV coverage reached the Metropolitan Region of Sorocaba, which is composed of 26 municipalities that total over two million inhabitants.

UPF-Brazil also organized a peace walk to honor the International Day of Peace (see separate article).

The United Nations designated September 21 as the International Day of Peace in 1981, intending it to be a period of nonviolence and cease-fire. Each year’s celebration has carried a theme: In 2019 it is “Climate Action for Peace.”
