Jerusalem, Israel - A new Holistic and Healing Center to serve local women opened on March 9 in conjunction with an International Women's Day celebration.
In attendance were women leaders, academics, present and former Jerusalem city councilors as well as political advisers to government ministers and parliament members. Most were also long term Ambassadors for Peace or members of Women’s Federation for World Peace.
Director of communications, Mr. Jeremy Jordan served as MC and gave the welcoming address in which he gave an overview of the parallel events taking place around the world and read the UPF Statement on the Status of Women, emphasizing women’s leading role in the 21st century in fostering peace and harmony for all people, centering on true family values.
Next, Mrs. Rosa Shmueli, the president of WFWP Israel took the stand and in her address covered the association’s plan of action for 2010. This event also marked the official opening of our new Holistic and Healing Center to serve the local women’s community.
The participants responded with enthusiasm, brought up questions and suggestions which developed into a lively conversation that continued well into the night.
A joint project of the Universal Peace Federation and the Women's Federation for World Peace, the event was held in support of UPF International’s Parallel Event at the 54th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women held in New York, USA.
