Buenos Aires, Argentina - "Where there is will, there is a way" was the slogan under which the 2012 activities of UPF-Argentina began with a reunion dinner held in Buenos Aires on March 9.
A PowerPoint presentation of the activities last year was shown by Mr. Miguel Werner, Secretary General of UPF-Argentina, along with plans for 2012, based on UPF's vision and action steps. Then, Mr. Jose Bilbao Richter read a summary of the career of Dr. Luis Guedes, who was formally presented, along with his wife Liria, as Argentina's new representative on UPF's Global Peace Council. Mr. Carolos Varga and his wife Laura, Directors of the Unification Movement in Argentina, give both of them gifts and pins with the UPF symbol.
During the warm evening, women were honored in commemoration of International Women's Day, celebrated each year on March 8. On entering the hall, each woman received a rose; later, the poets Adriana Gladys Burgos and Ruben Sabas Gomez shared their poems highlighting the work of women in history and their important role today.
At the end there were raffles, with numerous books donated by authors, and varied musical pieces played by Miguel Angel Ramos, with the audience clapping rhythmically along with them.
