Loures, Portugal—Around 30 guests came to a celebration of International Women's Day with the theme “The Power of Woman and Woman in Power.”
The meeting, held on March 8, 2019, in the José Saramago Library in the city of Loures, was a joint effort of UPF and two affiliated organizations: Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU).
Dr. Sérgio Vieira, the president of UPF-Portugal, gave a talk on “The Scourge of Domestic Violence and Education." In his presentation he advocated for character education as a means to educate future generations to avoid domestic violence.
Dr. Marta de Carvalho Rodrigues, the president of WFWP, led the participants in a toast for the success of women receiving more recognition around the world.
The program also included the appointment of six new Ambassadors for Peace.
