UPF and UN Partner on International Women's Day Observance in Georgia

Georgia-2011-03-06-UPF and UN Partner on International Women's Day Observance in Georgia

Tbilisi, Georgia - UPF-Georgia in partnership with the local UN office conducted discussion on the topic of “The role of women in peacemaking” on March 6 at the National Youth Palace. This was an activity in support of the celebration of the International Women's Day. About 40 young Georgians joined the discussion on the special role of women in building world peace. The participants together with teachers discussed the meaning of peace, peacemaking, and service, and also what could be done in order to put an end to violence towards women on the planet.

This event offered a good opportunity for direct communication and inspired participants to play an active role in peacemaking through personal growth.

Also UN educational materials and posters dedicated to the International Women's Day were delivered to schools 34, 79, and 136.
