Acre, Israel - The Aljazar Mosque in Acre (the second-largest in Israel) hosted an interfaith dialogue on Jan. 28, 2013, on the topic of Models of Interfaith Respect.

Tackling current issues head-on, UPF-Nepal held two education programs in southern Nepal, in Itahari and Biratnagar, January 29 and 30. Addressing the concerns about declining moral values, the theme for each event was “The Role of the Family in Nation-Building.” Three presentations were given at each event.

The vast majority of people of faith live in harmony with their neighbours, whatever their creed, but each religion also harbours a strident minority prepared to assert fundamentalist doctrines through bigotry and extreme violence.

Puttlam District, Sri Lanka - In the ongoing process of healing the wounds of civil war, participants in a Dec. 15-21, 2012, Religious Youth Service project built a community center in a northwestern Sri Lanka village  where Muslim civilians found safe haven during the civil war.

Multan, Pakistan - “Youth of Faith Build Peace by Practice of Love and Service” was the theme of a second project of Religious Youth Service-Pakistan, planned for March 15 to 22. Local and international youth were invited to explore cultural unity through working together in one of the ancient cities of Asia. The program included a international peace conference, planting trees at religious institutions, and visits to historical sites.
