Syrian Christians in Austria Torn between Despair and Hope for Peace
Vienna, Austria - UPF-Austria held a panel discussion on April 16 on the current situation in Syria. Sixty people attended, among them quite a few Syrians of different faiths, convictions, and loyalties living in Vienna. If the rebels in Syria come to power, the Christians in the audience said, they fear that previous guarantees of religious freedom would be lost.

Ambassadors for Peace Concert in Vietnam Celebrates Diplomatic Ties
Hanoi, Vietnam - Israeli vocalist David D’Or and American conductor David Eaton--both of whom are Ambassadors for Peace--performed with the Hanoi Philharmonic at the Hanoi Opera House as part of the “Friendship Melody” concert commemorating the 20th anniversary of Israeli and Vietnam diplomatic relations. The concert took place on April 11 and was attended by numerous diplomats and the respective ambassadors of Israel and Vietnam.

Moldova Forum on the Role of the Social Worker in the Community

Seiko Hatano Lee Gives Concert in the Netherlands
Bergen aan Zee, Netherlands - The Japanese singer Seiko Hatano Lee gave a “Spring Concert” in Huize Glory, North Holland on April 11. It was the last concert of her 2013 visit to Europe, which had been mainly in Germany and Austria; this concert was arranged at very short notice.

Ukrainian Ambassadors for Peace Welcome Idea of Global Day of Parents
Kiev, Ukraine - Ambassadors for Peace meeting in Kiev on March 20 welcomed the news of the establishment of a UN Global Day of Parents on June 1, with people being encouraged to honor and express special appreciation for their parents on that day. Suggestions were made about how to promote recognition of this day by the Supreme Council of Ukraine.
