Kiev, Ukraine - An international conference on “Toward a Great Country through a Great National Idea,” attended by 110 participants, took place in Kiev, Ukraine, on October 18. At the beginning of the event the Trio of Bandura Players of the National Radio Company performed for the participants, creating by their music a special atmosphere for the conference because a very urgent theme was to be discussed.

Washington, DC, USA - Eighty-five guests from the diplomatic, NGO, and business communities filled The Washington Times' Beech Room to overflowing for an October 18 observance of the UN International Day of Peace. While words of peace offered by historical figures were shown on the screen, people engaged in conversation over lunch.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - UPF-Malaysia inaugurated its Peace Embassy in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, on October 27 with a gala program beginning with the National Anthem and invocations by leaders of several faiths.

New Delhi, India - To mark the UN International Day of Peace 2012 and the UN Sport for Development and Peace program, UPF-India joined hands with the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan and St. Stephens College to organize an Intercollegiate Peace Football Tournament under the theme “Play Soccer, Make Peace” from October 10-12 at the football field of St. Stephens College, North Campus, University of Delhi. Eight teams from eight different colleges under Delhi University took part in the tournament.

Songkhla, Thailand – UPF-Thailand took a step forward to peace in a separatist area of southern Thailand with a conference in Songkhla on the topic “Good Governance and Interreligious Cooperation for Lasting Peace” Oct. 5–7, 2012.

Toronto, Canada - Distinguished delegates from Nepal were featured guests of UPF at a meeting in Toronto on October 13, giving a briefing about the transition of this Himalayan nation from a monarchy to a democracy.

Moscow, Korea - An International Conference on “The United Korea as a dream of the Korean nation” took place in Moscow at the conference hall of the hotel “Rusotel” on Oct. 3, 2012. The event marked the anniversary of the signing of the Joint North-South Korea Declaration in 2007.

Holon, Israel - A delegation of volunteers from Russia visited Holon, Israel, from September 22 to 30. Young Ambassadors for Peace from different cities of Russia (Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Izhevsk, Nizhnevartovsk, and Kazan) were warmly welcomed by a group of kind community activists from Holon.

Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the international religious leader and founder of the Unification Church and the Universal Peace Federation was laid to rest on September 15 in a series of moving ceremonies held in the mountainous countryside just outside Seoul that Father Moon loved so much in life.
