Interfaith Programs

UPF organizes programs that help build understanding, respect and cooperation among people of different faiths.

Toronto, Canada - Dr. Hussein Auckberaullee opened the monthly meeting of UPF-Toronto by expressing his deep sadness over the tsunami which hit Japan resulting in the deaths of thousands of people. People held hands and stood in silence to show solidarity with the people of Japan who are facing this dreadful challenge.

Jerusalem, Israel - UPF-Israel announces plans for an interfaith tour May 19-25 as part of its ongoing efforts to build a culture of peace in the Middle East.

Bangkok, Thailand - UPF Thailand hosted a meeting on February 23 to discuss the creation of an Interreligious Peace Council in Thailand and the eventual establishment of a similar council within the United Nations. The Thai Council will work to solve conflict and promote cooperation, morality, goodness, and peace in Thai society.

St. Petersburg, Russia - At the February 22 meeting of the UPF Peace Council of North-West Russia, Krasnosumova Tatyana reported about the Festival of Spiritual Music held to commemorate the UN Week of Interfaith Harmony in Kondopoga, Karelia. The festival helped unite people of different religions and contribute to mutual understanding by helping people see that despite our differences we all long for peace and kindness. Art is an important factor in the matter.

Amsterdam, Netherlands - Muslim Ambassadors for Peace at a Feb. 22, 2011 meeting  in the Netherlands reported about being inspired by reports of Christians in Cairo protecting Muslims when they were at prayer in Tahrir Square.

Sydney, Australia - UPF Ambassadors for Peace met on Feb. 7, 2011, to offer interfaith prayers for the victims of recent floods and cyclone in Queensland.

Moscow, Russia -  Experts, Ambassadors for Peace, and interested youth came together on January 28 at the UPF headquarters to examine the possibility of any form of dialogue between confessions and the obstacles to developing relations between followers of different religions.

Ryazan, Russia - Ambassadors for Peace in Ryazan met on January 23 to reflect on the tenth anniversary of the Universal Peace Federation’s proposal to create an interreligious council within the UN system. The program was also related to the World Interreligious Harmony Week, which recently established by the UN General Assembly, which will be celebrated during the first week of February.
