Toronto, Canada - Dr. Hussein Auckberaullee opened the monthly meeting of UPF-Toronto by expressing his deep sadness over the tsunami which hit Japan resulting in the deaths of thousands of people. People held hands and stood in silence to show solidarity with the people of Japan who are facing this dreadful challenge.

Bangkok, Thailand - UPF Thailand hosted a meeting on February 23 to discuss the creation of an Interreligious Peace Council in Thailand and the eventual establishment of a similar council within the United Nations. The Thai Council will work to solve conflict and promote cooperation, morality, goodness, and peace in Thai society.

St. Petersburg, Russia - At the February 22 meeting of the UPF Peace Council of North-West Russia, Krasnosumova Tatyana reported about the Festival of Spiritual Music held to commemorate the UN Week of Interfaith Harmony in Kondopoga, Karelia. The festival helped unite people of different religions and contribute to mutual understanding by helping people see that despite our differences we all long for peace and kindness. Art is an important factor in the matter.
