The unexpected passing of Reverend Father Moon was so unforeseen. We all thought he would live forever. I attended the UPF World Summit in Korea several years ago. Father Moon’s desire for and dedication to world peace is without parallel. His willingness to make tremendous sacrifices for these ideals is so vivid and deeply inspirational. My most recent encounter with Father Moon’s work was watching the Little Angels’ Folk Ballet of Korea last year. Very inspiring! Father Moon touched the lives of millions of people throughout Nepal in a powerful and positive way. His legacy of peace will never be extinguished. My honored association with Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and his movement, especially the interreligious activities, goes back many years. I have the highest regard for Father Moon, his life and legacy. I was deeply shocked to find out that within hours of the conclusion of the International Leadership Conference held in Kathmandu, Nepal on September 1-2, which I attended, Father Moon ended his earthly life and passed peacefully into the spiritual world. During that conference the Nepalese edition of his autobiography, “As A Peace-Loving Global Citizen” was released. The title accurately describes Father Moon, whom I met on several occasions and deeply respect. May I extend my heartfelt condolences to Mother Moon, her family, and all the members of the Universal Peace Federation in Nepal and throughout the world.
