Bienne and Geneva, Switzerland - A celebration of Africa Day in Bienne, on May 24, 2014, showcased talents of youth and promoted harmony between the generations and between people from Africa and the general population of Switzerland. Two days later, an international conference took place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on the theme "Towards Lasting Peace and Reconciliation in the Democratic Republic of Congo: The Role of Religion, Women and Civil Society."

New York, USA - Africa Day 2013 marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity, which gave way for the establishment of the African Union. On June 26, a New York 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration for Africa Day was held in Manhattan, co-sponsored by the African Group and the African Union in partnership with the Universal Peace Federation and the United Nations African Ambassadors Spouses Group.

Africa Day Celebrated in London

London, UK - Africa Day was celebrated in a UPF-UK organized event on June 4 with a variety of perspectives in a packed House of Lords committee room kindly hosted by Baroness Howells of St. Davids. The event was also graced by a visiting delegation from UPF-Nigeria.

Africa Day Celebrated in Siberia and St. Petersburg

A festival in honor of the African Diaspora was held in Novosibirsk on May 25. Also on May 25, children in St. Petersburg made drawings and origami cranes with goodwill messages to send to children in Africa. A round table on June 19 assembled scholars and activists from Russia and Africa to discuss progress over the past 50 years.
