Bangkok, Thailand - The International Day of Peace was celebrated at a conference with participants from 18 countries.
Bangkok, Thailand - The United Nations Conference in Center in Bangkok was the setting for the launch of UPF’s Southeast Asia Peace Initiative on July 28, 2008.

Team Thailand stayed in the country the work began and ended. Interns Hannah Boyd, Jacob Shaw, and Justin Frisk worked in Songkla in the south of Thailand where they taught character education at an orphanage for children who had lost their parents or been displaced by war. The orphanage is in a safe area away from the conflict.
The NextGen Leadership Academy was established on the West Coast of the US in 2005 to help young people build self-confidence, self-awareness, and foster maturity to better prepare them for family life and their college and/or other career.
Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, Thailand - In response to the insurgency that began in southern Thailand in 2004, a southern Thailand Peace Initiative was launched in Songkhla province April 4-8, 2008.
SONGKA, THAILAND - A hundred young volunteers from southern Thailand learned principles of peace and conflict resolution to equip them to serve as peacebuilders in communities threatened by insurgency.
UPF-Thailand together with the Foundation for Development and Peace and the International Cultural Educational Foundation were the main organizers of the Thailand-Cambodia Religious Youth Service Project December 14-28, 2006 under the theme “Building a Culture of Heart and Character through Service.”
Thailand/Cambodia – Together with local volunteers, the RYS participants were involved in the restoration of several educational facilities. In Thailand, service took place in the Buddhist community of Samut Prakan. Most of the participants (about 35) departed early to go to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where they worked in the Islamic community at the Qamaruddin Al-Islamiyan School located beside the mosque.
Since the end of the colonial era, when the Muslim nation-states emerged on the scene, we have had nation-states with flags but without any values or a political culture, a political ideology based on Islam.
Thailand— The Thailand RYS education program was designed to train participants to become future leaders. Based on the theme “Modeling the Ideals of a World Peace,” the activities focused on team building, conflict resolution, increased awareness and appreciation of interaction styles.
Klongtomtai, Krabi, Thailand—Seven RYS alumni organized a 3-day local RYS project in Klongtomtai, Krabi on March 21-24, 2004. The main project was Tree Planting co-hosted by Klongtomtai Sub District Local Government in Krabi Province and WFWP-Thailand.
Korat, Thailand—Work focused on repairing and improving the structure of a medical clinic and the local grounds.
Bangkok, Thailand— The work of RYS was slowed down in Thailand on account of government persecution in 1992-3. This project in the North of Thailand was designed to rebuild the RYS and IRFF foundation while providing needed services for the region.
Sukhothai, Thailand—RYS participants and staff helped work on a multi-purpose hall at an orphanage which was to be used as a moral education center.
Ubonratchathami Province, Thailand—The RYS worked on the restoration of a school at the central Buddhist monastery of the region. The weather was extremely hot but repairs and restoration were substantial.
Southern Thailand—Based on the success of the first Thailand RYS project a second project, was designed and implemented from April 1st to the 13th. Whereas the first project was in the North, the second was carried out in the South and brought participants from all regions of the nation.
Chang-Mai/Baan Nong Gai Village, Thailand— Thirty-one staff and participants attended this first Thailand National RYS Program, held in the Chiang Mai area, Thailand, on October 17-26, 1989.
