Itapecerica de Serra, São Paulo - A social impact project was held in the city of Itapecerica da Serra, São Paulo, on November 23. Approximately 50 people participated, including representatives from different associations and churches in the region: Assembly of God, Itapecerica Family Federation, the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principle-Brazil, and the city hall.

Itu Stream in São Paulo State Cleaned by GPF Crew

Itu, Brazil - On November 9, at 10:00 in the morning, we carried out a Social Impact Service project in the city of Itu, in São Paulo state. We began by gathering the participants together and explaining to them the social importance of doing the service project, at the same time connecting it to the vision of the Global Peace Festival. Thirty-four people cleaned the Jardim Santana stream by removing garbage and rebuilding the bridge.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - The Global Peace Festival (GPF) initiated a Social Impact Service project in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the Jacarepaguá district on October 19. Approximately 120 people participated in the activities of distributing food and clothing to less fortunate residents in the community, painting walls near the Residents Association, and generally cleaning up the community.

We are living in a moment when there is a big devaluation of the family, or at least an intention to devalue the family. It is a time of uneasiness and excessive violence in many parts of Brazil. I think that peace and the status of the family are very important points for these days because not only Brazil but the world is facing a crisis in the area of family. A message that can bring trust and express the value of the family is the message that we need today.
L. Brun: Linkages between Peace and the Environment

I tried to make connections, linkages between peace and the questions of environment around the world because there are many threats to our survival on the planet. They affect all the countries, all the nations, and this can create a common cause to unite us against those threats. In the meeting of the Universal Peace Federation, I tried to emphasize the importance of a new awareness of those environmental problems, such as the melting down of the poles, the greenhouse effect, rising sea levels, the destruction of ecosystems in different countries, the pollution of the seas, that break the food chain as a consequence.

Clearing a Soccer Field - IRFF in Brazil

Young participants in a leadership seminar in Sao Paulo, Brazil, went to a town nearby to help out in whatever way they were needed and ended up clearing weeds from a soccer field and renovating a children’s playground. The 35 people from 11 nations were in San Lorenzo de la Sierra from January 14 to 18, 2008, and during that time they made friends with youth from local Catholic and evangelical churches.

No mês de julho 2007, no dia 28, os Embaixadores da Paz da Região de São Paulo foram convidados a uma reunião sobre o Projeto de formar o primeiro Conselho de Paz da UPF do Brasil. Todos já tinham recebido o Título e foram homenageados Embaixadores da Paz, ficaram contentes por terem sido reconhecidos e se dispuseram para fazer algo mais, porém aguardando como fazer o próximo passo. Nós solicitamos a cada um de preencher o formulário afirmando os cinco Princípios da Paz e em seguida assinar a aceitação do convite para ser um membro do Conselho de Paz.
